The ‘Warzone’…

( Other and Rant )

The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina appears to look like a water-soaked warzone. My prayers and thoughts go out to those who have lost loved ones and friends in these times. Also, my cares and thoughts go out to those who have lost their belongings, and homes.
I don’t want to sound like a selfish person, [...]

Software Updates!

Lot’s of new releases have been .. well, released. They include…

Eclipse on Windows Vista

Over at EclipseZone, a reviewer has posted a screenshot of the Eclipse platform with the new Microsoft Windows Vista edition. The author says that they ran into very little issues with it. I want to say “I’d hope”. Why? Because Microsoft Vista seems to be nothing more than a face-lift, maybe just refactoring of/to MS [...]

Foxit PDF Reader

From time-to-time we need to open those.. those… files known as Adobe Acrobat Files whether it be for school, employment, etc. For us who are stuck with dial-up, or those who think Adobe’s reader is too ‘heavy’ (including the Yahoo components), Foxit PDF reader is just right. I completely agree with the Bush administration on ignoring / denying such a request. It only brings a dangerous precedence for future. [...]

In my post(s) on the topic ‘Google Talk, alive!‘ received reports that some of us couldn’t login, but some could. Well, here to find out searching the Google Talk help site (that isn’t completely finished) that you need to be invited. Well a friend of mine did just that last night and am able to [...]

Java issues…

A couple of things that I’ve found irritating..
1.) There is no mechanism for tray-icons with Java. Though most new OS’ have this ability.
2.) There is no mechanism for alpha-blending transparency for the OS’ that support it.
3.) There is no way for a Java application to launch a new webbrowser with a specific URL without use [...]

Server Help Site - online.

( SS News )

As reported on ‘Server Help Site - offline.‘ Mine GO BOOM’s forums have been offline the past few hours. However, they are now back online. This message from MGB:
Due to lack of foresight, when I was moving everything over to this host (been here for a couple of years), I didn’t care about the default [...]
